Havin Al-Sindy works in Berlin, Düsseldorf and Kurdistan. She was born and raised in the Kurdish Autonomous Region in Iraq. She studied biology and chemistry as well as art at the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste Stuttgart and at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf where she completed her master’s degree in 2018. Her works are in the field of conceptual art and painting.
In her field she deals with the questions of memory and its reconstruction, with localization and de-localization from different artistic and scientific perspectives. She confronts the viewers with their own expectations and actual experience. The encounter with her work is intended to dissolve the boundaries of past and present. In doing so, she makes use of performative and installative modes of expression as well as traditional media. She currently works as an administrative professor at the HBK Braunschweig.
