Oliver Exner, born in Görlitz, is a dancer, choreographer, and photographer based in Munich. His work focuses on the ‘foreign’ and reflections on identity, society, and nationality.
As part of a research fellowship in the field of theatre, supported by the Theatre Department of the State Capital of Munich, he is exploring structures, axioms and narratives in the Afro-German local context.
He has worked as a dancer in numerous productions at the Bavarian State Opera and the Salzburg Festival, among many others, as well as designing artistic concepts and stagings for independent dance productions and theatre venues.
Co-founder and choreographer of the Acrobatic Trio “MovingpArts” since 2012, he combines this work with activities of artistic mediation and theatre photography, such as his collaboration as a photographer with the Bavarian State Ballet since 2019, among others.
Together with WHY NOT? KOLLEKTIV, Oliver Exner is currently working in the artistic mediation of the project “MONSTERA Landscapes of Remembrance for Reeducation — Good Citizenship in Yesterday and Today”.
