Digital Showcase in NRW Region: December 9th, 2022
With: Romy Schmidt, Alexander Huegel, Mohamad Tamem, Pauli Nafer, Rojin Sharafi, Ninatoka del Valle & Olivia Hyunsin Kim
The earth rotates on its own axis, so does the circular movement of the Sufi dancers. Science recently discovered that all time-space dimensions, the entire universe, behave circularly. How the angular momentum responsible for rotation arises is one of the unsolved questions of cosmology.
ORBITAL NOISE is an artistic research on the digital aestheticization of Sufi dance. The sound design of the transformation navigates into a hybrid cartography of circularly interrelated temporalities, far away from Eurocentric habits of seeing and hearing.
Funded by: National Performance Network, NEUSTART KULTUR and the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media. We thank Szenische Forschung / Ruhr Universität Bochum for their support.
