Duncan was born in Germany in 1993 and grew up in Mülheim an der Ruhr.
After studying photography and graphic design, he took an autodidactic path as a media artist and filmmaker. During a stay in Chile in 2016, he worked on film projects for music series such as Andes Prog IV, Sonidos de Recoleta, and Sesiones en el Balcón, in collaboration with filmmaker Dan Sáez. Over the course of his career, he expanded his skills and supported theatre and dance companies such as Colectivo en Degradé and PIRIZ MARABOLI in the cinematic field. In 2019, he received the Allard Prize for International Integrity and Human Rights for his photo of the nationwide protests in Chile. He is currently producing videos for the gaming platform 9GAG.
Duncan’s artistic work and research in the field of new media focus on short films, 2D/3D animation, motion tracking, and real-time video processing. In addition to classic video production software such as Premiere Pro and After Effects, he also uses programs like Touchdesigner, Blender, and various AI tools.
His interdisciplinary approach enables him to create animations and digital designs as well as video installations, visuals, and digital scenographies for theatre and dance projects, such as in the exhibitions Velar Tänze trauern (digital exhibition, 2021), Bruch und Spektralität (video installation, Essen – 2023), the play Niemandes Boden (visuals, Bochum – 2022), and the productions THE NEW MINE-ING SOCIETY (media art, Bochum – 2024) and the multimedia musical The Game of You (2024).
Since 2019, Duncan has been working as a documentarian for The Karajan Institute in Austria and as a media artist in numerous independent projects.
